We do things differently in France!

1. In France, always greet the shop assistants when you enter a store with a minimum of ‘bonjour’.
2. In fruit stores and markets always ask for help before selecting fruit. Never pick up produce and squeeze and smell it. Shop owners and assistants are usually very knowledgeable and will proudly sell you only their best produce.
3. The French start counting from their thumb, so if you’re gesturing in a noisy bar for two beers, hold up your thumb and index finger. If you hold up your index finger and middle finger you’re likely to be given (and expected to pay for) three beers!
